Early detection of pseudarthrosis – supplementing clinical expertise with predictive analytics

Is it possible to predict uncomplicated bone healing and the development of pseudarthrosis on the basis of the accident pictures, the clinical information at the time of the accident and the first treatment pictures?

Together with a consortium of the BG clinics of Ludwigshafen, Tübingen, Murnau and Duisburg, OSORA is going to work on the assessment of healing potential in a sample dataset of patients with bone fractures in the lower extremities.

Doctors with varying levels of experience will rate the datasets for the expected healing progress and outcome. In addition, OSORA will predict the expected healing results with the help of bone healing simulation.

The project team is managed by Dr. med Holger Freischmidt and Dr. med. Jonas Armbruster of BG Ludwigshafen. Dr. Lucas Engelhardt is the project lead on the OSORA part.
